How it works

Add your mailboxes

Sign in with Google or Microsoft, or add any other mail account. You never type a password into the assistant.

Tick what's allowed

For each mailbox, switch on what the assistant may do: read, search, draft, send. Start careful and open up later.

Give each one a name

Call them "my personal", "sales", "my work" — then simply ask your assistant by name, in ordinary language.

Permissions

What you allowed is what happens.

There is no override, no exception, no "just this once". Switch something off and the assistant is refused mid-conversation — it is told why, so it can offer to draft instead of send. Nothing you didn't allow ever touches your mail.

Security

Built so the assistant cannot overreach.

The assistant never touches your mail provider. It holds a key to Postern Mail, and Postern Mail holds the line — on our server, on every call.

Enforced per call

Every request is checked against your mailbox switches before anything happens. Not cached, not inferred, not trusted from the assistant. Switch send off and the next attempt is refused with the reason.

Credentials stay here

Your Microsoft or Google grant, or an IMAP password, is stored encrypted and decrypted only in memory for one call. The assistant never sees it — and never gets the wider access such a grant often carries to files, calendar and chats.

Replies cannot be redirected

A reply goes to the original sender or the people already on the thread. There is no field for adding an address, so a reply can never carry your conversation to someone new.

Nine independent switches

Read, search, list folders, move, delete, draft replies, send replies, create drafts, send mail. None implies another. Deleting only ever goes to Deleted Items; nothing is ever erased.

Nothing stored

Postern Mail does not store, process for its own purposes, index or retain your mail. In any way. Ever.

Not a message. Not an attachment. Not a search query. Not a log of what your assistant read, moved or sent. Your mail passes from your provider to your assistant and is held nowhere in between — not on disk, not in a database, not in a cache.

We guarantee we will never change that. The only things Postern Mail keeps are your account, your mailbox settings, and your provider credentials, encrypted. Nothing from inside a mailbox.

Your mail provider's own folders remain the only record of what happened: a draft appears in Drafts, a sent reply in Sent Items, a deleted message in Deleted Items — exactly as if you had done it yourself.
